Hi! My name is Laurie Hunkler and I am so excited to be teaching at DIS this year. This is my first year teaching and I cannot wait to get started! I graduated from Ohio University in June 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Middle Childhood Education with concentrations in Language Arts and Social Studies. While in college I was part of the CARE partnership. Through this partnership I learned so much about hands-on learning. I believe students should always have a say in their education. In my class I will have individual goals set for each of my students because differentiated instruction is very important. In my classroom students will be learning through a variety of ways. Students will participate in hands-on lessons, whole class discussions, and small group instruction. In Reading we will have literature circles.
